How will you keep the quail in while moving it?

Only need to raise it up about 1/2" -1" to do a regular move which should really only be 4' either fowars or backwards if there all gonna be his size they shouldn't be able to squeeze under . Other then that also looking at possibly making like a he ay net skirt that will basically just drop down and seal the gap while I move it

I like the skirt idea. It will make it harder for predators to dig quickly under too.

Coons can reach thru that chicken wire grid. Better put another layer of smaller grid up about a foot from the ground.

They can reach under the bottom in every dip in the and raise in the land also. I loose some chickens to them like that now and then. My tractors and 8x10 so dips and humps may not be as bad with his being smaller

Wolfdog any reasion you put chicken wire on the area you covered with tin? Im.cheap and only put the tin on on mine.

Like I said coon never get close to my place because of these three . Would have to come though 200yd of cow pasture to even get close and yeah ..been probably 10 or so years since I seen one anywhere near the yard same with possums . Just a bit of a non issue for me. If I was in a different place it would be a different story. Now I am looking as adding some on the bottom side for chicks buuuut idk.

Snakes are a PITS to deal with as well. Keep a dip net handy as they are escape artists but always hang close to the others.

Very nice! Our garden runs on cover crops and chicken manure. We grow cover crops, and run a chicken tractor over the cover crops, Then we disk and plant. I’m experimenting with leaving them on a spot until they kill all the grass and then planting right into my that as an easy way to make new garden spots. Look forward to seeing how your quail tractor performs

FWIW, pen raised Quail need to be kept off the ground. If their feet get too wet, they'll die. Experience is the teacher.

Bobwhite quail and Chukar both easily catch and die from coccidia and enteritis from wet soil. Coturnix quail and Hungarian partridge are both resistant to them. Thousands of years in captivity, in literally crappy pens in Asia, has made coturnix quail very disease hardy.

k don't think I would put any on the bottom. Seems like a good way to get broken legs and feet when moving it and more for poo to build.up on. but they are quail not Cornish cross chickens so the poo may not be an issue and if it's got.a.bottom you could.lift it high enough the birds are up on. the wire . Then it would be setting it down they would need watched for leg injurys.

it may work but I don't think I would if it was not necessary. I would think chicks wouldn't get to far from mom even if they could get out.

So lil update so far so good haven't had any problems I can tell . Takes about 30sec to move it lift it up a lil bit and shuffle backwards about three foot and done. And glad I made a tractor because this lil things STINK ! But yeah they'll just tend to hop up on the raide platform in the back and stay there for the ride. Takes them about two days to get low on water but holy crap they eat a lot ! Thinking about adding a solar yard light and seeing if I can supplement there diet with all these beetles or something
The hens love making these lil scoop outs in the dirt to lay in ....idk if there trying to nest or if that's just them dusting

Quail eggs are great for making Scotch eggs with. You get a very good hard boiled egg, to sausage, to breading ratio, in a bite sized treat.
