Yeah, thought everyone went in from the back… I mean hinge.

Stop over cooking your meat! It isn’t gamey, it’s over cooked!

Do you know how oysters came to being in your area? Your post prompted me to research, a little. From what I found oysters are not native to Alaskan waters and supposedly cannot reproduce in the wild.

They’re definitely reproducing, the oyster farm that they originated from has been gone since I was a kid, it’s probably been close to 25 years

Never saw anyone use a bar wrench. Just push the pointed end in and pry. I can see it working well

I’ll show you the getting spot if you’re ever around Mike. I keep it pretty secretive, there’d be no oysters if I told people where to go lol

I made a new friend on the way home, still wet behind the ears. She ran right up to me and let me pet her a few times. I carried her up the bank away from the road and set her down close to where mom made her escape [Linked Image]

And now for the cooking. Decided I didn’t want any part of a social gathering, so I let family pick through my buckets and take what they needed, and I ended leaving with a bucket full and some shooters.[Linked Image]

Now I should have oysters for dinner for the next 3 days if I cook up the same size batch every night (and don’t eat too many raw shooters for snacks)

Took a few guys diving once and they brought up a pail of huge oysters, bigger that those in the picture, well one guy said to another "I bet you won't eat that raw"

Well, he shucked it and crammed the whole thing in his mouth and started chewing,.. and chewing...white oyster stuff was coming out of the corners of his mouth and dripping on the boat deck, was one of the most disgusting things I've seen anyone eat, lol

He finally got it all down, said it was good, but no one else would try one, lol, grin

Looking good there AK. I like a little lemon juice on my raw ones. Better yet in a ceviche. Tell your wife I've got the best ECUADORIAN CEVICHE RECIPE ever. I used to sell ceviches at our farmers market.

The old, old timer Baymen here, when we had a huge natural oyster industry, would shuck oysters into a coffee mug and add a splash of vinegar, they then slurped the oysters out of the cup instead of off the shell....Nowadays lemon juice might work better....? but basically the same idea....

Used to buy them from folks in Craig that would sell them out of a cooler.

Raw with a little horseradish and cocktail sauce on a saltine. Chase it down with an Icy Bay!

Love the extra smalls from Coffman Cove. Raw with a couple drips of lemon juice, a small bit of cocktail sauce, and a few shakes of Srirocha. Man, good stuff!
Of course, just throwing the larger ones on the grill until they pop open is delicious, as well.

Just doing what I want now.

Coffman Cove is a good spot, my spot is further north, that’s all you’re getting out of me on here lol.
