The more elongated shape of greensunfish, their tiny, softer scales and their relatively soft dorsal fin makes them excellent bait for anything with a big enough gape, including bass, pike, pickerel, walleye, turtles and even snakes.

Caught several hand sized "fohead" bluegills today too. Crappies are a little slow currently.

That and I think they're tougher staying alive on a hook just a bit longer.
