So... Yesterday I put 2 chicken eggs out by our pond, and set my trail cam up facing them. I slightly cracked one egg, and the other one I left intact. Something has been eating eggs from a bunch of different birds: Sparrows, robins, turkeys, etc. I was trying to figure out what was eating them. Yesterday I found a dead field sparrow with egg particles stuck to its belly. It's like some kind of varmint is killing the birds, but only eating the eggs. So today I checked where I had the trail cam and one of the eggs (the one I partially cracked) is gone. the other one has a bunch of mud on it and was moved from where it was before, but it wasn't cracked. What do you guys think? I also found some "manure" that looked intriguing... I'll post pictures of it later. Here is what was on the trail cam:

When you get by some cracked shells, look up
They were most likely kicked off of a nest by a parent bird

Eggs attract a lot of different animals

Yes the clean egg pieces are often removed from the nest by the adults sprucing up the nest they do that with the chicks waste material also just fly off a few yards and away from the nests and away it goes.

Wild ducks can not hatch a brood to save their lives over here.
We have the usual perps to blame.
This year I notice water snakes a lot.
Everybody likes eggs.

Deer are known to eat baby birds, and likely will eat eggs too.
