My trapping camp is about 8km 5 miles from the river. Does anyone suggest a drone that can fly that far linger for 10 or 15 minutes to conduct an inspection then fly back?
Or would you recommend setting up a Starlink and a couple trail camera and checking it that way?

I’d say trail cams and starlink would be best. Then you’d have starlink out there when you’re there, and you can check regardless of weather

I’ll bet Starlink would be waaaay cheaper than a drone that can do that, if they got coverage there. We got eligible for service down here a few years ago.

Had a fiber line that worked great at home, but if you have a problem and it’s anything more than a router, you’re hooped. Could be months for them to repair a damaged line. The Feds gave out huge grants to companies to run fiber all over rural Canada and guys came out of the wood work installing it.
The wife works from home 2-3 days a week so it’s almost as important as power. Ours went down a couple weeks ago and after 3 days, the repair guy said replacing the router was all he could do. They gave us no time line as to when they could trouble shoot the line, so we canceled and ordered a basic Starlink package, the monthly charge is almost 1/3 more, but it always works. Super easy set up…..highly recommended if you need an internet connection.
