Just thought I'd share a few pictures from some of this year's activities.
These are the 2025 Wisconsin Muzzleloader's Association Team Shoot.
There's me, Dad, sister (3rd pic) and wife (purple capote).

January Shoot (it was only about 3 degrees that day).
May monthly shoot.
Rifle Championship match with the local club, this past weekend. That's my crazy beast, Bentley.

Its always a great time to get together with friends and burn some powder.

I’m guessing you just eyeball the amount of your charge powder? That’s cool.

No, each shot gets a measured charge. Each rifle has its own measure, made for it after a ton of shotting to dial in the volume of powder necessary to produce the best groups.
My .54 like 95 grains of 2F. Not an economical rifle to shoot.
The wife's .50, for target shooting, really likes 35 grains 3F.
My .36 likes 45 grains 3F.

I've handled one, they seem like a sweet rifle. Very light in the hand.

That's great, I've got 2 clubs within an hour drive of me, so I joined both, that way I get to go to club shoots twice a month.

Shooting the flinters at least once a month here. Those are good days for sure.

Ness, bring that smoothie West and have some fun in the WI woods.

I'm still trying to get a good elk hunting load worked up in my woodsrunner, so I have been shooting once a week.

Been a while since I've had my rifles out. Need to quit telling myself I'm too busy and just do it.
It's always interesting to study folks at the firing line. Little differences in holds and stance. But no matter how they do it, it's always the ones that are rock steady that shoot little groups!

Yeah trapdog, everyone has their own style for sure. I look leaned way back, that pic was just after I touched it off and the recoil pushes a bit.
My sister wears that glove to keep the priming flash from burning her, as she holds the forearm way back close to the lock. She's a darn good shot.

This is a Getz barrel, round bottom rifled, 42 inches long with 1:70 rifling. I find the slower rifling in the larger bores really like heavier charges.
