Just be glad you can keep 3 I suppose. We don’t have them here. Hear they are tasty though.

Stop over cooking your meat! It isn’t gamey, it’s over cooked!

Actually, the daily bag is 5 walleyes. Keep 3 in one lake and 2 more somewhere else.

In Wisconsin, the daily bag limit for walleye and sauger combined is 3 fish on all inland waters. This means you can harvest 3 walleye, 3 sauger, or a combination of both, totaling 3 fish. A person may harvest walleye from two different lakes or rivers with a three-fish daily bag limit as long as they don't exceed the five-fish total daily bag limit.

Yeah, I know. Most people don't do that though. I wouldn't lake hop like that so for me it's 3.

Seems like a lot of launching and retrailering a boat for a few fish. Hopefully they’re good sized fish at least? I ate some when I visited my brother down in Idaho, but I’ve never seen one or caught one. Tasted like a fishier cod to me

It was clearly half rotten if that is the case.
I won't eat strong/fishy tasting fish. Walleye clearly is not that.

Carl, that’s a matter of perspective. My brother eats it because where he lives, that’s a premo white meat flakey fish. Personally I don’t bother with anything from fresh water, it all tastes fishy to me. Lingcod, halibut, yellow eye (in that order) is what I like

A couple of good-size walleye is more meat than that whole mess you got there.

Ordered a walleye filet sandwich at a shoreside bar and grill on the shores of Lake Erie in NW Ohio several years ago.

Wasn't expecting the experience. That was the best tasting fish I've ever ate. Waitress said the fish was fresh, never frozen, straight from the Lake.

Yellow eye and ling taste fishy to me. Walleye not at all.
Funny how everyone has different taste
Caught my limit of 6 walleye last evening in Lake Erie down the road from where I live

We don’t close our season here in the spring so we get hammered with in and out of state fishermen in the early spring before things heat up the fish grinders will overheat from overuse and a lot of nice fish are caught.

Was born in a Big City Will die in the Country OK with that!

6 per day here in MI. T

Except around where I'm at, near Saginaw Bay. So many walleye the past few years they rolled the length back to 13" and made it 8 fish/day. Not sure why people keep a 13" eye, there's hardly any meat.

Crazy amount of walleye in this fishery. There's times ice fishing when your jigging in the river that you cant jig without snagging fish. Lately you get 10 dinks to one good one though.

Once they all move through there's some real dandy's though.

Thanks Bob. They come from Lake Hopatcong in northern NJ. I try to get up there every spring when the bite is on..

Walleye is probably my favorite freshwater fish. There's a reason they're called "poor man's lobster."

That's interesting, I could describe walleye with a lot of words but "fishy" wouldn't even cross my mind. I've eaten a lot of fish, from the atlantic, pacific, every great lake, smaller lakes, and a bunch of rivers, and I really have only found one that I don't like. Nuclear apocalypse would have to be upon us before I'd cook river zombie king salmon for my family. Other than that, if it's a fish I'll probably enjoy it, with walleye being right at the top of the list. My only problem with walleye is that I don't really enjoy trolling for them. I'll pull them through the ice or jig, but I don't enjoy driving a boat around trolling. I know some folks that live for it though.

Go outside and do stuff.

I think walleye is at the top of most folk's favorite eating fish list.

I don't enjoy trolling either. I much prefer casting crank baits/lures for walleye and every other specie I target.
