Heading to the NTA Western ,

First stop was Crane Hot Springs, this place had really changed over the years. Used to stop here and shower after a few days of chucker hunting. It was just a natural pool that had private shower rooms. Now it has cabins, hotel, camp ground and they look to be doing a major wetland project. Nice place. The hot pool has concrete around half of it now. We just used the dry camp area.



Next stop we camped next to lake near Jordan Valley hit a hot spring that I’m sure not a lot of people ever see. It was called Three Forks Hot Spings. It’s about 32 miles off the highway. 25 miles of dirt road to 7 miles of very rough rocky road as you drop into the canyon. You have to wade the river to get to the cascading hot creek with great warm pools.









Today we are headed to the McDermitt area, Oregon Nevada border, yet another hot spring, this one is a hot creek that used to have a hotel I guess. There is still remnants of people using this one from years gone by. I’ll try and remember a few pictures of it. Supposed to be about 126 degrees at the sorce.

Good country. Not many people. Soaked at Crane many times.

The lucky seven hot spring, has remnants of an old hospital in the background. The water comes out of the ground over 122 degrees from what my point and shoot thermometer shows. Down stream we found a pool at 104*, waiting till later to soak.

Looks like there may be some cats in those hills in the background.

I would guess so. There is a ranch close by that has some hounds and had a trap hanging from a tree.

My wife got her rock hounding out of the way today. Found some big agates. Making for a good trip.

Looks like some beautiful country.

I can't remember which hot spring it was out in that country that was on private land and the rancher got so fed up with rude visitors he bulldozed it over.

So today was the first day of the NTA Western. Turn out seemed small from what I seen, maybe tomorrow will draw more people. Nevada put on a good dinner of tri tip steak, baker potato’s, salad, rolls and cookies. Had a good mix of demos all inside out of the sun. George did the auction, had a great time and I think they brought in some good $$$. Top sellers where guns and a set of corn hole boards.
