Searching on the marketplace on Facebook, I found someone in town who had a cage trap they were selling for 10 bucks. It’s a 32 inch trap..which makes it a fair size for coon…
I went and bought it.. it’s a cheap trap from harbor freight.. think I can reenforce the edges and the back with 9 gauge wire,, and use a heavier gauge rod , or even a chain set up that triggers the door to fall. The door itself looks to be pretty sturdy.
I’m not going to be out of any serious money, just time. And like most guys here, we just like fooling around with traps anyway

I googled harbor freight traps. i would use the trip lever rod as is. NO chain. Looks like the sides are bent 90 so leave them alone except the bottom where it comes together. just sew tight with 14ga wire. You could sew the back and front supports with 14ga too.
Basicly use it til it falls apart and save your money and get a better trap.Attend your trapping cnvention and see what a better trap is.
good luck to you
