Always heard they should be kept elevated for health reasons it might not be a problem with one bird on new ground just what I was told years ago. My buddies dad raised them on a body shop roof in Chicago.

Built one about 30 years ago. Not quite as fancy as yours but it worked fine. drug around the yards for several weeks, I believe it was 4X8. Had 3 grown chickens in it. 2 of them nearly pecked all the feathers off the 3rd. think we ate all 3. Sold that tractor for a nice profit the next spring.

Wisconsin coon rip hardware cloth of if you leave them an edge to grab.

America only has one issue, we have a Responsibility crisis and everything else stems from it.

Coons will be a problem but if you have skunks they will be a bigger problem as they dig right under it. Many do not realize that skunks are quite the killers.

You can beef hardware cloth up a bit by using something like an external grade drywall screw and washers put in outside corners. A lot of people use chicken wire and that is a no go. Lots of predators can rip thru chicken wire. That only works as a crowd control divider inside a barn or chicken house.

Another improvement to this tractor would be a fold up panel (dig apron) on all four sides. About 1 foot wide. Once the sun goes down, all manner of varmints will be on it, around it and trying to dig into it.

Easy to vote your way into socialism, but impossible to vote your way out of it.

That's actually what I did to a good 80% of it. 1.5" dec screw with a washer ever 6 or so inches then those min fence Staples
