Read earlier this year, that folks save back beaver tails for catfish bait,,
I don’t remember if the leather is peeled off just having the gristle chunks or is the leather left on.
Any of you guys happen to know or even use them?

Not sure about catfish, but I know they sell chunks of beaver tail for ice fishing bait. Never used it myself but I guess it holds up really good.

Got a Illinois cat fisherman friend that taints those beavertail chunsk first and then uses them for flatheads and blues.

The ice fishing stuff is all peeled. I would think the white surface draws more attention.

Leather stays on one side other is peeled. Says the leather helps keep the hook in place ...no lost bait

I’ve used it cut up for shrimp bait with good success. Tried it for codfish with zero luck
