seems conservatives talk from both sides of the mouth on this one. If it's their kid social services wants to take away because they discipline, etc, they are against the system. If it's someone else's kid, different story. It should never be easy to separate kids from parents and there better be a darn good reason. I've known kids not having the best home situation but mom was trying, it's not always so black and white.

I'm conservative and agree with you that it should never be easy to separate children from their parents. Bad neglect, bad physical abuse or molestation, that is proven in a court of law are about the only reasons a child should be separated from their parents.

And in 30 years we will be hearing about how school lunch was the justification needed for some overzealous govt employees to steal kids.

From the first post she made, yotetrapper has advocated punishing young children, look through the post on this thread and tell me I'm wrong. If you need me to quote her, I surely can.

People like you and her don't get it for whatever reason. Academia yes, total failure because the Gov't got involved. No matter how broken the system is we should feed the yougins and fix the system, but don't let kids go without because they have no control over whats happening.

Sounds to me like your kids must be getting the free lunch.

Ahhh yes.Feed the children,,, even though I ALREADY GAVE THE PARENTS FREE FOOD TO DO THAT WITH.And nowhere does yotetrapper advocate punishing children that I can see,,,just making parents more responsible.

When do parents responsibilities come onto play here?

How about we write a personnel check to feed a needy kid at school. If you're going to be charitable reap the benefits of physically being charitable. No need to have a "middle man" in a government suit. I expect the local school would have no problem with receiving such a donation. Cuts out the bad parents completely.

Oh no. Your not getting off that easy on this subject matter. You said Yotetrapper never advocated punishing children. She said they should feel repercussions and also be ostracized. So you feel the same way, kids should feel pain because of a failed system. Punish them?

My kids are to young to attend school and they will be home schooled. I own 240 acres I pay property taxes on, have a buisness that pays a pile of taxes... thanks for your concern.

I either quoted the wrong post or it was edited, I tried to quote the post that said "sounds like your kids are getting free food"

You and I didn't pay in enough and will rely on our children and grandchildren to fund our old age.

I'm not sure what specifically you are referring to about feeling repercussions. Do you mean shame that they need charity? Yes, they should feel that, not towards themselves, but towards their parents.

I said in a subsequent post that the word ostracize was probably not the best wording. What I meant by that, is that they should be aware that they are not the same as the children whose parents pay for their lunches. They should not feel equal to children whose parents take care of them. They should be aware that they are accepting charity and that that makes them different than the other kids. I stand by that statement. Because I felt that as a child, and firmly believe that it made me a much more responsible person than I would have been had I been made to think I was entitled to a free lunch.

I actually have another personal story to tell about free lunches. But, I'm cooking now. Later.

But is that your fault, or the fault of a system that should never have been created and was broken from the start?
