I won't be trapping bobcat, but I just saw what must have been a state record bobcat. Stood nearly as tall as my 105lb German wirehair. Ive seen a number of bobcats in the wild but still, for a minute I thought for sure it must be a mountain lion that's wondered across the country with the color looking nearly solid and being so big, then I saw the stubby tail when he left. So, I want to put out a cell cam and see if I can get some pics of him. Any recommendations what the best attractant for bobcat might be this time of year? I've never trapped or hunted them so I don't have an idea of where to start. Thank you!

Guessing it was a Tom, they can put on a lot of miles and not be back for a bit, or he may stay in a pretty small area for a week or 2. If I was just looking to get a pic on his next trip through, I would dump a few gallons of used cat litter where you seen him and wait.

Why do you want to catch it in June?

Depending where in Maine, you might have seen a lynx. They are tall and lanky looking this time of year. Also with spring/summer coat would be all one color.

Because it’s June now. I’m not looking to trap in the fall. So I didn’t know if some attractants may work better or worse depending on the time of year.

I believe I saw him the same time of year about three years ago. But that time he was moving and I didn’t Gary as good a look at him.

It was in southern Maine. I think I can tell the difference. I’ve looked at a lot of pictures and when I go north to bird hunt I always keep an eye out hoping to see a lynx, but I haven’t yet.
