A customer made this video of my crew and I taking down a large Cottonwood, its a neat 4 min watch if you're interested in that sort of thing.

Nice video. What kind of spikes do the climbers wear?

I got it to play just fine now. That is awesome video. I got to watch a crew do that one day and was amazing to watch. Thanks for sharing that with us.

so how old was it? ( I saw in the video, someone was counting rings)

Nice job , I am always amazed at well some guys can get up a tree and make it gone.

I work for a power company and if I can't reach it from the ground, or get my bucket to it, I'm calling a tree crew.

No chipper? The grapple makes life easier for you and your crew. My greenhouse guy takes the pine and poplar for furnace firewood. cool

Why is the grapple you have better than one like this? https://quickattach.com/products/eagle-talon-log-brush-and-rock-grapple

For loading the truck?

Tree was 50 years old, an absolute specimen for that age.

Chipper was left at home, we were far outside our normal work area and there was a farm 3 miles away we could dump at, with the amount of block wood coming off we thought it would be easier to just throw brush in the bottom of the trailer and wood on top.

The grapple allows us to keep everything narrow, gets around objects better and when we chip we can feed the chipper with it easier making chipping a one man operation.

It ain’t your first rodeo eh?…..lol
My brothers friend wanted a big elm gone in his back yard. Said an arborist told him he’d take it down and clean it up for $1800. He told the guy to pound sand and my brother got me to go and look at it. Good lord! I told him to look for another arborist as the last guy obviously didn’t have insurance, not a real one, and that a real one charging $5000 for the clean up and everything would probably be a sweet deal.
There’s lots of tree removal fly by nighters around, but only a few real arborists that can remove a huge tree without a bucket and not destroy everything, and they’re worth the money they charge when you see what they can do.

Thanks for the video. You guys work fast! Haha

I've spent countless hours on YouTube over the years watching people trying to do this themselves to save money, and end up needing a new roof with an ER bill by the time they're done.

What are the odds? It’s a rare occasion when someone has deep enough pockets and enough silver in their tongue to convince me to climb, but that’s what I’m heading out to do this morning. A friend of my uncles is building a new house (mostly done) and decided he didn’t want a bunch of ugly hemlocks leaning towards it…and the rest of the cutting crew was drinking whiskey until a couple hours ago, so I said I’d do that today since we’re not gonna be sawing logs
