feeding kids is some tax money I'm happy to pay. I guess it is much cheaper for taxpayers to pay for abortions than pregnancy, birth, welfare, education, and incarnation many of the kids will cost. BUT I'm still anti abortion and not going to adopt any of the unwanted kids either. ( had enough of that mess and dynamics with my adopted brother and sisters) So feel a bit like a hypocrite.

Question. If .gov didn't write the check for you, would you write a check to feed the kids? If so, why is it necessary to pay the salaries to people to write a check when you're able to write your own?

they also get breakfast here. i guess it keeps a few at school. wonder how kids survived before these programs? we took a sack lunch to school. they had these little cartons of milk everyday. infused with vitamin d to prevent rickets. some kids did not get milk. no money. i dont remember the cost. never knew anyone with rickets though. i think the benefits of free breakfast and lunch are grossly exaggerated.

once in a while you hear about some kid locked in a closet or something that is starved by the adults in his/her life. made into a sex slave sometimes. it is rare and these programs dont address those things.

without all these programs how would the poor social workers find a job?

Milk was 2 cents when I went to school, cafeteria lunch was 35....we didn't have a lot ,but we had the milk money and peanut butter and jelly sandwiches....No free anything back then and no one disappeared from starving...

Considering I don't get involved with any school systems not likely. I also don't Wright many checks things are electronic these days. Now I have bought food many times for families and individuals holding signs and give to st Judes. Why them 1 when I see the need and 2 they let me know of the need.

Would everyone agree that you should be able to pay for the lunch if you choose to. I had a problem being made to take a free lunch. Again, not begrudging those that needed it. I actually qualified for reduced price because they lowered the bar so low and eventually just made everyone free with no other option. This bothered me personally. I think lunch and breakfast was 1.75 a day for each child and I was spending more than that each day for my lunch so I felt I could or should pay for theirs.

That's how it is in our district; free breakfasts & lunches for everyone, regardless of income. Same with the district the wife teaches at, started about 10 years ago.

Maybe grocery stores should be banned. Set up meal locations for everyone. Solve our countries obesity problem. No one ever goes hungry.

Yeah, that’s what they did in Russia a mess of years ago. Rationing sure worked there, killed everyone except those who were strong enough to survive.

This is why they do it. They steal your money in an attempt to buy votes from people who will be owing to them for their next hand out.
Some people will help out, some won’t on their own.
It is not the governments job to raise children much less adults.
But here we are, with no cuts to these programs in sight because politicians need votes. Funny how you can’t figure out you need to take care of your kids but you can vote yourselves another check.

My daughter and son in law earn North of 200K. Own there 40 acre homestead free and clear. Own an 80 of prime recreational land free and clear.

My 2 grandkids still in school work hard. They probably have $100 in their front pocket every day of the week accept pay day.
