That part isn't as bad as most of the People's Republic of Maryland. There's actually regular people that live around there.

Even regular people make me jumpy if there gets to be more than one every couple of sections

About 5,000 people there. About 840 per square mile. They are kind of folksy is those parts.

That area is actually really kinda nice up around Centerville. Big deer country up that way. I liked that area when we first looked down here but the wife wanted more coastal. Definitely not like over the bridge. West of the Bay Bridge unfortunately rules the state politics but the Eastern Shore is a different animal.

You can likely hunt Sika deer in Maryland. A friend of mine had to live in Maryland for work and Sikas were thick in the area he lived and not scared of people.

Philly and Denton are two completely different places.

Foundryman, you’ll be 20 minutes or so from me.

Welcome to the neighborhood, glad to have you.

Just a touch south of him but yeah, lots of sika deer.

They run off during hunting season. Marsh ghost or whatever they call them. Bring hip boots or waders and lots and lots of bug repellent. And a bug suit. Probably a thermacell wouldn’t hurt.

Tasty little critter, about the size of a medium lab.

For the love of god, WHY would you want be anywhere in the east? I can’t say I’m fond of anywhere in the lesser 48, but anything east of the dakotas sounds super crowded. I need miles of elbow room

Foundryman, be sure to close the door when you get here, don’t need any extra folks.

The Delmarva Peninsula is full and terrible.

Yeah, super crowded and terrible here.

The Eastern Shore is nothing like over the bridge. Night and day. If the Shore could secede it would lol. Over the bridge can have Salisbury and Cambridge… and we could throw in Pocomoke for good measure.

Went down to the Inter Harbor for 4th of July fireworks some years ago. Dang rats were running everywhere. Running between our legs and I watched several times rats running over baby/kids blankets. One year for the little grandkids I bought one of those huge pumpkins to take out to them for Halloween. I’m sure it weighed over100lbs and over 3’ wide. It was a big deal for the kids but on the 2nd night out on the front porch the family got to watch 2 black guys hauling the big arse pumpkin down the sidewalk! There’s no winning in a big city!

Baltimore is the only part of Maryland I know and that’s more than enough for me just like Deeetroit is to Michigan, whole different world!

Solid plan, y’all can join us and we will give everything north of the canal to who ever wants it.

We can annex Eastern Shore of VA and just call the new state The Shore or just New Delmarva.

Those folks on the other side of the bridge are nothing like the Eastern Shore.

Ocean City as well. Everything he said.

Don't forget...you will need a boat. A skiff will do well up there, head of the Choptank River but still tidal.

Don’t listen to the haters. Some have never been to the Eastern Shore and the rest are referring to Baltimore. lol

As Morgan said, you’ll need a boat. The Choptank River will be close as heck to you, and is a decent fishing spot.

Please don’t tell these guys how much you like it once you move here lol. You’ll do just fine. Had friends from college come visit , from all over the country. They all say how they didn’t know this part of MD existed. Plenty of vast farmland, great deer-waterfowl-turkey hunting, good trapping both water and land, great fishing both fresh and salt. I’m down near mud on the lower eastern shore, you’ll be north of me about 85 miles. PM me if you’d like

My thoughts exactly! The change in trapping opportunity has to be huge! Plus the politics!

It's the politics going to run me off.
Outdoors wise, lots of varied opportunities.

I can trap fisher 2.5 hrs west, catch bluefin 2.5 hrs east.
I'm fairly insulated from most nonsense, but state level politics, well....

I’ve continued to follow this thread and can say that yes, Baltimore is similar to Dereetroit MI, a chithole of a city where people live like rats! But I didn’t just drop out of the sky to get to Baltimore, I spent time in the State of MD. No where did I travel or stop did I feel like I wasn't being snobbed or high-hatted!! Must have been my voice eh that gave me away? Like my son-in-law says, “you Midwesterner's are nothing more than a bunch of FN hillbillies” and I very much resent that big time!!

Back in the late 90’s I was on a caribou hunt in Labrador and I stayed with 3 guys from MD for a couple of days in a halfway house before they could fly us out and they weren’t from Baltimore rather from outside . I leant 2 things, MD deer hunters can shoot a chitload of deer, something like 40+ a year on a license AND they weren’t from Baltimore and they were sanctimonious A-holes! LOL

You can BS a non-MD resident but you can’t BS a real Midwesterner- BS’er that has walked the walk!! It’s the same as trying to gaslight a person that has experienced it and seen it up close and personal and someone trys to spread frosting on it!

Yes, can shoot a ton of deer, and if you hunt certain counties there is no limit to the amount of antlerless deer you can shoot.

Yes, there a whole ton of sanctimonious a-holes all over Maryland. No shortage anywhere in the whole country really.

Yes, perhaps I was a little to broad-brushing the State of MD for which a give a small, yet sincere apology!
