I was thinking about simple DP baits and having coon be attracted to it. Coon like cherry koolaid powder or dry jello. Has anyone used cornmeal as a base for DP baits? How well did this work?

Don't know about DPS but that is the base for dough balls we used to use for carp bait when I grew up

Same here.

It don't get much more simple than the small marshmallows and jello mix for dp bait.
Just don't snack on it all before you get to use it for bait. Lol

The problem with some of those baits is if it rains your bait will just wash away. I think you need to have some kind of grease scented plug for the top end of your DP.
Back when rats were worth trapping, I made a lard base scented bait with peppermint oil. It worked well and it was rain proof. I just might have to make up a batch.

If I make up some dry cat food to fill the trap, then cover it with my lard peppermint lure I should be good to go.
