Been trying to catch some kind of carnivorous varmint on my trail cam... It's been killing birds around the house... But the cam was angled too high.

How do u know that's the carnivorous animal. Might just be a ground hog. You do know there was a time and trapper didn't have a trail camera to figure it out for him. Its called the power of reasoning and woodsmanship.

Because I had a squirrel carcass out there in front of the trail cam and it's gone now. And that critter was the only one that passed by. So whatever that critter was, it took the squirrel with it. I suppose it could be a ground hog who decided he wanted a hunk of squirrel carcass for dinner. But I've never heard of a ground hog killing songbirds and eating squirrel meat. But I am only 14, so maybe that's why I've never heard of it. Yes there was a time a trapper didn't need a trail cam to figure it out for him. Trappers still don't need trail cams to figure stuff out for them... But they sure are handy when they work ok and you know how to use one.

That is a Midnight Wollywompus. They usually eat Snabboons off the Swinookus Vines, but are known to enjoy a dead squirrel once in a while.

Oh yeah! Why did I not think of that? We have lots of prime habitat (Swinookus Vines) around our pond. I haven't seen many Snabboons around here but that doesn't mean they're not there.

Yes, it is very possible it could be that varmint. Only problem is, would she eat meat? Seems to me she would only eat tofu or lettuce or carrots or something but I don't know for sure

So have we figured out what your critter is yet? Any pics last night?

Didn't have time to put any bait out yesterday. Got a red squirrel carcass out there now, and I adjusted the angle of the cam. Hopefully we'll see some action tonight
