Anybody have any experience growing it?What did ya think of it ground up for corn meal?

Makes good cornbread and shine. Grows tall and blows over bad. You will pick a lot of it off the ground.

According to some seed catalogs Jimmy Red is an improved bloody butcher. The legend backstory is that a SC moonshiner named Jimmy grew it year after year selecting for higher sugar content most likely starting with bloody butcher or a bloody butcher type.

I read in a seed catalog it was saved by a few ears or would of been lost.

White corn is for people, yellow corn is for animals and other colors are for decoration. That's what an old Indian told me. I have found some green corn that makes an interesting corn bread. Mike

He has passed away but I do prefer white for hominy and meal, especially Pencil Cob. Mike
