wife and I went on our 25th anniversary trip to Alma
and her having cancer we extended it a few days as well and went back to where we honeymooned on Madeline island

Was just fishing on Pepin yesterday. Fishing was slow. I recognize several of those places as I have fished pool 4,5, and 5a for walleye for many years. A lot has changed over time but the "Ol Miss. " keeps on rolling."
Congrats on your 25 anniversary and wish you both many more.

We drove up to Pepin for supper one night and up as far as Maiden rock.
we didn't go north of Nelson in the boat , ran 5 from end to end and saw a good part of 5a

fishing was definitely slow even when we could find the fish on the graph they were biting very light when they did

Thanks , we sure planned on having more anniversaries than this but it isn't very likely she is stage 4 metastatic with it spread to multiple organs the chemo didn't work and now it is just enjoy the time left as much as she can.
we didn't get a ton of fishing in she was good for about 4 hours a day on the water then had to sleep.
liver function is way down , she was supposed to be starting clinical trial this week but was disqualified by the low liver function in Tuesdays blood tests.
even that wasn't looking to be a cure just maybe a little more time.

I hope the Lord has a special place reserved for your Mrs. when that day comes
. Its so unfair in life some live well into their 90's and even more ,Hurts my heart to hear about this .

The wife and I honeymooned up there also, 21 years ago.

it makes me want to go back and camp on one of the islands you catch a ride to and they come pick you up again in a week. but obviously that will be a new adventure for me for later. she isn't doing any more camping , hotels with good beds only for now.

25 years ago we canoed from Madeline island back to Bayfield in search of bait for fishing , we found none , and I was persuaded to buy a one way ticket for the two of us and the canoe on the ferry back to the island where the truck and our camp were.

Hoops Fish , great fried whitefish if you are in or near Bayfield and it is a nice day stop off , they have 2 menu items dried or blackened white fish
they catch it the boat is behind where I took the picture from, the processing facility is behind that , and the other side of the cook shack is a big deck with more seating to eat at

apparently 200 feet wasn't the answer she was looking for

yup and while there are only 2 options on the menu white fish fried or blackened , there are more beer options and they would let you sit and drink beer and eat fish all day as long as you don't get rowdy , do that and it is off the closest exit into big lake to cool down.

Yup , no spurs , got toddlers in the bars here , it is a family friendly place dontchaknow

That's definitely the area to be when the rest of Wisconsin has a heat wave. You can notice the cooler air coming off the big lake miles away when traveling from the south. The St. Louis river to the west by Superior can have great
walleye fishing this time of the year also.
