.....ok these things are getting annoying, can't drop any bait down without them tearing it up... These crab snares are supposed to only be able to catch crabs but I'm one like catfish #10 wouldn't mind if they where regular channels or something but the salt water hard heads

Sure can , most don't, trash fish and all ....then again the same people are the one who whine about the bad flavor of anything that's not a trout or walleye... Probably because they don't understand there more then salt pepper and old bay but hayyyy

We went after blue cats today, we love eating most all catfish we catch here.

I have eaten quite a few goffsails as a kid that I caught with my grandpa.
Not bad at all, and he would bait his crab traps with the heads.
When picked clean the underside looks like a crucifix.

So wolfie, if you have that many catfish mugging you you may not even have crabs there to catch...or at least they won't get to the bait before the cats....might need to move to a different spot...but if you're restricted to the barge that probably is a no go....at least you have something to occupy yourself with...

… got bit on the inner thigh by a dead coyote once

First time I fished the gulf I couldn't get away from the hard heads so I tried eating them and found out they were allot better than our local channel cat. The sting from the barbs is allot more powerful than anything fresh water. One year I drove back north with a thumb twice the size it should have been.

The cooked fish looked good though

They look like bullheads, a lake I trapped had them would catch all we could carry. Really good eating, better than trout and easy to dress. When we started selling live fish and netting farm ponds we caught thousands of stunted bullheads, we salted them and sold/used them for mink/coon bait, the heads should last and work for bait?

Lot of LA. crabbers use catfish heads for bait
