A buddy mistakenly grabbed a .22 mag bullet and fired it in his .17 wsm. Luckily he wasn't hurt, it simply blew the plastic magazine out the bottom. The bullet is lodged in the barrel right in front of where it was seated. He said it's tight... any easy fix or a problem for gunsmith?

Spritz it with gun oil/lube and drive it out from the muzzle end. Should pop out pretty easy.

Yup, was going to post wood or brass, something softer than barrel steel to prevent gouging or damaging the rifling.

Right. Somethings screwy if it actually fired. Action shouldn't have been closed if I am remembering dimensions right.

Brass rod worked he said. Thanks all. I asked about it chambering, he said bolt closed hard but his thoughts were on the groundhog lol. It pays to take a second and check... guessing he won't do that again

Just make sure he doesn't have a 300 black out, could have been a lot worse...

the issue isn't having a 300blackout , it is also having a 223/5.56 and using light bullets like the 110gr in 300 black out then accidently grabbing that mag and stuffing it in the 5.56 the pictures I have seen the rifle is toast but everyone got to keep their fingers to minimal injury

America only has one issue, we have a Responsibility crisis and everything else stems from it.

since the 22mag isn't a rebated bullet it probably just pushed it deeper in the case

It's because it was a .17 WSM not an hmr. The wsm case is longer than the mag so the bullet would only go up to the beginning of where the wam starts to neck down.
