3.7 degrees If you want an answer in inches one would have to know how far apart are the front and rear sight.

That's a lot. You may have to go all the way up on the rear sight bridge. If that's not enough you may need a shorter front sight.
Eh...wot?

what is the gun
sight radius is needed to calculate
taller front sight would make it better unless your rear is all the way up
most rear sights need to be almost all the way down on factory guns with normal ammo for that gun.
America only has one issue, we have a Responsibility crisis and everything else stems from it.

He's already shooting low. yeah i read that tooo fast , I saw top of shoulder what is the sight made out of he may just need a file many muzzle loaders with bras front sight blades come excessively high (shooting a foot low at 25 yards) and a fine file is the tool to adjust them down

My flintlock was like that. I replaced the front site with a shorter one. Just needed to know the size of the dovetail and sight height of course.

If your gun is shooting low, drop the rear sight down a little. Then continue to test and adjust as you see fit. A good rule to follow with iron sights is, follow the bullet. Which means if you’re shooting high, raise the rear sight or if you shooting low drop the rear sight. That is incorrect, you have it backwards. Always move the rear sight in the direction you want the point of impact to go: raise the rear sight to raise the point of impact and lower the rear sight to lower the point of impact.

do you know the right hand rule for scopes
If you want to go up with the shot place your thumb on your right hand up , your fingers now tell you which direction to turn , ditto on down , and need to go left , thumb points left and fingers tell you direction to turn dial
it works till you find a backwards scope , but it works on most scopes sold in the US
you military Irons are left hand point the thumb the direction you want to go , you find exceptions to that rule a little faster than scopes.

That is what I learned and for some reason it worked for my .22. Obviously Lugnut knows a lot more about it than I do, so don’t pay any attention to me!

I just reread our posts. They both say the same thing but with different wording. Check it out and let me know if I’m wrong.

We are not saying the same thing.
You are saying raise the rear sight if you're shooting high and lower the rear sight if you're shooting low. That is incorrect and opposite of what I'm saying.
Here is the rule (the real one): Move the rear sight in the same direction that you want the point of impact to move.
If you want to raise the point of impact, raise the rear sight. If you want to lower the point of impact, lower the rear sight.
On rear sights that have windage adjustments the same rule applies: Move the rear sight the same direction you want the point of impact to move.
If you want to move the point of impact to the right, move the rear sight to the right. If you want the point of impact to move to the left, move the rear sight to the left.
Eh...wot?
