Congratulations. Hopefully those are your first eggs of thousands. Those 5 eggs are probably 12 to 15 grams each and are roughly equivalent to an extra large chicken eggs if used in a recipe.

Scissors are definitely best. Tough shell!; 5 to 1 ratio for me and they cook very quickly. Congratulations, quail are quick to layers.

When I had quail, I couldn’t keep enough pickled eggs in the house… I need to buy some again.

I have quail and have never heard of that. I just crack them like any other egg.

Proudly banned from the NTA.

Bother me tomorrow. Today I'll buy no sorrows.

Those quail eggs taste great and the scissors actually work well.
We're getting some male birds for processing in about a week or 2. Hope to get some eggs too.

The shell membrane is tougher on quail eggs than chicken eggs, which is why the scissors are handy. A pointy knife works too.

Anything I should feed them to help with egg health and the like past the regular laying feed they get ?
