Not that I like going to the doctor or ER. I usually patch my self up pretty good. I have learned though that bad cuts on my hands and fingers, heal way faster if stitched. No mater how good I wrap, tape or glue. Always seem to rip the bad one open. Just to much movement in hands and fingers unless you just dont use them.

Sliced and diced a few fingers over the years with my scalpel knife some bad ones when I got tired and careless. Wrap in paper towels slip a latex finger off of a skinning glove over that towel cover then get back to work.

I found out quite a long time ago that if you need stitches go right away. If not, wrap it up, glue it or tape it. I get sliced by the side of the walleye gills quite a bit. I put some black salve and a bandaid on over night. Next day air it out and toughen it up. That black salve does a great job of cleaning out the cut and drawing all the bad out

Super Glue is your friend! it is but with a note for people who have not yet done it that the technique is 1 clean the cut 2 hold it shut 3 glue over the top while holding the cut shut , hold it ill the glue is dry then you are skin/meat to skin/meat and that heals to it's self quickly first time I tried it I was washing my chefs knife and slipped , right across the knuckle on the thumb , those always seem to take a long time to heal cleaned it out , held it shut and glued it , the little single use things of super glue are perfect . fastest I have ever had a deep cut heal.

I filleted the top of that thump off so I had to put the glue right on the wound and then the chunk of flesh over that. I wish I had got it lined up a little better than I did but it worked. That was around 15 years ago and the nail still has the chatter marks in it where the blade skipped across the nail.
I have nothing clever to put here.

Cut a few knuckles years back with a chainsaw I could see the actual knuckles when it first happened I will admit I had to sit down for a few minutes after that. Just wrapped the hand and took off for a few days. Never got stitches just always cared for it myself not recommending that just saying it’s what I did.

maybe I used different glue
I was expecting INTENSE pleasure and was really surprised how little there was , I figured it had a lot to do with how tight I was holding it shut not a horrible idea to wear a nitrile glove on the hand you are holding it shut with , because gluing your fingers to the cut area is real
ahh I remember now I held it shut real hard , son put the glue on

I don't like getting stitches but I've had a lot of them. I have met a lot of nurses over the years. but how many of them let you take them out later? seems like all the nurses here are married or dudes.

Happened a year ago, cut it so deep I still don’t have feeling. Worst part was the numbing shots, they hurt really bad ![[Linked Image]](https://trapperman.com/forum/attachments/usergals/2025/06/full-58255-261035-img_0074.jpeg)

I gotta throw this out there - I had minor surgery a few years back. When I came to , found out they stapled me shut. Sent home to return in about a week or so to have the staples removed. A couple days before I was due back to have the staples removed the staples were itching bad. I decided to remove them myself. Took a nail clipper and cut each staple in half , then wiggled each half out.
Doctor seen I removed them at follow-up visit. He showed me the pliers thingie he was going to use.
I was glad I removed them myself. The tool he had opened them up just a bit and it looked like it would have been kinda ripped out and painful.
