The question arises from time to time, what is the gospel?
Is it a simple answer?
How would you answer if you were asked?

I simply believed it to be hope and relief from having to live like animals but a couple self righteous Bible thumpers fixed that.

The gift that Jesus presents before us of his sacrifice on the cross so that we can be blameless before God and have everlasting life in heaven through repentance and a realionship with Jesus.

The gospel is the truth and the life....The chronicles of the life and saving grace of Jesus Christ.

The Gospel translates to the "Good News." The good news is that if you believe in Jesus Christ you will be saved from your sins. By His grace we are saved, not by our own doing.
We no longer have to live under the condemnation of the "law," but by his saving grace. Given to us by His sacrificial death on the cross. He died, that we might live.

Whatever my Dad said, because after he told us something he said it was gospel. He also told us we could take that to the bank.

It's the New Testament about a God who emptied himself of being God and became a human with the goal of saving all of mankind from their sins and eternal damnation. And by his grace, we are saved through faith. The writings of Paul, the apostles, and others are testimony to this.

Chancey, you have the most important aspect in your heart. we all need much work on ourselves. we live in a screwed up world where sin abounds. Thank God for his mercy and Grace.

Here’s what the Bible says: “Jesus came into Galilee, preaching the gospel of God, and saying, “The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand; repent and believe in the gospel.”

…so it’s that the Kingdom of Heaven has arrived on Earth. The explanation of what that means requires more than a simple answer…

My answer would be Truth; that is the Gospel. If I was questioned to go further, then it would be similar to what K-zoo already said. If the person asking was sincere and needed more clarity and direction, then I would try to provide it with scripture that I deem important in the context while also having a good conversation with the individual.

The death and resurrection of Jesus Christ is the most important event in world history. It was seen by many first hand accounts and documented historically. Jesus Christ is our Passover; only His blood can save us; when I say us I mean all mankind; including Jews. He is the I AM and the voice in the burning bush to Moses. Jesus is the Truth, and the Life, and the Way. Christ is King!

Grace = What God gives us that we do not deserve.

Mercy = What God does not give us that we do deserve.
