Straw hats but would advise a 50 to 70$ one. Will last a long time and one that is flexible. Like these Stetson's. I was raised wearing a cowboy hat and I wear them spring to fall.

not cheap but I like my Tilley one of the few things I can get in a size 8
it also has the best retention strap system , that hat will stay on at 20 knots

that or a good straw hat , you might need a place to set it in the truck if you go wide brim , the headrests these days interfere with a wide brim hat

you know you are starting to get enough fishing in when you have to break out the sun gloves , bought a pair of simms in 2021 on a few days into a 2 week fishing trip, I was wearing the long sleeve light weight fishing shirts but the back of may hands were burning
we were spending 12 hour days on the water, and it was hot that summer.

I also sun burn when there's a full moon outside ha ha , my go to hat during the summer months are inexpensive palm leaf western hats that don't have such a large brim .

Then lather up with SPF 50 or stronger sun screen , works wonders for me .

A fishing neck gator and fingertip less gloves also are helpful if you're out fishing .

You're friend along the snare line .

Deluth Crusher Hat

I have one of these and like it. It can be crushed, squished, rolled up, whatever. It bounces back to shape. On a hot day I dunk in the creek and put it back on. Throw it in the washer occasionally.

that is what the wife has as her fishing hat , it would fit the not too expensive and washable

I find it a little too floppy for my taste but if your not cruising in a boat that probably isn't an issue.

Those hands in Pennsylvania won't likely pick on you for wearing it. It's far more likely that they will leave you alone, thinking that you must be a crazy person wearing a hat like that around there.
I run into that when I wear my genuine, bought in San Antonio By God Cowboy hat around where I live.
No one says a negative word about it. Sometimes I'll even get a compliment about it.
You will need to work on your surly scowl though. I've got mine down pat. I have to do work not have that goin on.

Most of the hats yall are discussin would be perfect for pride month and no LOL.

I wear a big ol palm leaf hat for the summer. Plenty of shade but you can't wash it more than about once or it will fall apart fast. Western stores sell plenty of "straw" hats that are nothing but plastic and you could prolly clean with windex.

They are also available in styles that won't scream homosexuality like anything with a flat top or go full Guatemalan like a palm leaf with a wide brim and a low crown.

If you have a Ronnie Van Zant I'm going to hope you're a musician in Austin because otherwise the full throttle crowd will assume you are advertising. As far as a floppy brim paraphernalia don't git me started. sick

Straw hats are ok on land, on the boat they'll take off on you....I wear a version of the "up downer" hat in the summer, the originals aren't made anymore but they've been adapted into a "fishermens sun hat" The one I have I think was from Panama Jack..Basically it's a longer, wide brim "ball cap" with a boonie style flap around the sides and back to keep the sun off your ears. The flexible flap is essential if you need to put a rain jacket with hood on...most of them also have a flap "cape" that will cover your neck and folds up into the flap if you don't need it, I cut that flap off...The material is vented and spf 50, and washable

My granddad always wore a straw hat with a green visor during the summer. I always liked them so went looking for one a couple years back. I wear mine frequently. Either it or a boonie hat. My ears tend to get crispy if I just wear a ball cap during hot weather.

look at that close , that is AI or photo shopped on his head unless he has the weirdest shaped head ever , no way a hat should sit that high on his head , there is inches between his ears and the brim

I was looking at my other hat

this https://www.amazon.com/Broner-Khaki...7B29X?ref_=ast_sto_dp&th=1&psc=1

I wore it a bunch in 2021 it worked well , don't like the chin strap as well as the Tilley but the cost is less and if you aren't trying to drive the boat and keep your hat on it worked well.
