Tractor supply or feed stores are where I get mine. Make sure the plunger will be able to be removed from the tube, made that mistake once.

Looks like they use a regular 12cc syringe with a 16 guage 1in needle be easily obtained at local farm store for little to nothing on cost.

Veterinary supply houses sell a large selection of syringes and needle sizes to suit many uses. TSC is handy for local purchase and you can see what you are buying.

Look for BD brand US made like everything imported those needles leak easier than the US ones. Cut the thumb circle off of the plunger and the finger tabs to get through 1X1 wires.

Was born in a Big City Will die in the Country OK with that!

can we do a deeper dive into this subject?

I almost bought a pole set-up from Pine Hollow Trapping and Supply at the PTA Rondy, but I didn't know enough about the subject.

I'm wondering what works best for everyone...I've never used one, so don't know what to look for in the entire rig.

With your experience Tree Man I would think you would already have a pole and system on board already. smile I have been using my pole for more years than I can remember.

grin

truth is, I haven't done ADC work; therefore, my skunk catches always end with a .22 through the lungs. sometimes, I'm happy. other times, not so much.

what's the best, usable length for the pole itself? (if I could, I'd get one about 55 yards long, but...)

4' to 5' are my syringe pole lengths. I make my own now. I make a collapsable model that I carry in a pvc tube for when I walk in and carry it on my ATV. I rarely have a skunk discharge. 1 in 50 -70. Then it is only a small discharge. I don't want to contaminate a set or lose valuable essence. I use my pole mostly on my fur trapping lines.

Thanks, Bob.

Is any one design better than the others available, or are they pretty much interchangeable?

appreciate the replies!

There are several designs I am sure. I make mine from 1/2" galvanized steel. It is relatively easy to work with, durable and will fit easily thru most cage trap wire grid if needed. I cut the finger injection tabs off of my syringes to allow them to fit thru the wire grid also. I tape on my syringes to the pole end as needed.

If you stop down some time I can show you how to construct one of your choosing of size / length or make a couple to suit you.
