No flatheads in my local blackwater river....yet.
Caught the bream in my pond and the catfish in a nearby creek.
Good morning!

I was figuring to go catch a mess of bullheads this week but it’s suppose to be hotter than the devil this week.

I cleaned a mess of bullheads once as a kid and was surprised how good of eating they are. I thought they were better than channels(not that i mind eating channels) out of the same pond. 4 sure they are. I like em small...they fry up tasty.

I think bluegills and bullheads are the best tasting fish, love'em.

I wonder by reading this thread, if a bunch of you grew up like I did eating bullheads. As a kid, I cut lawns when I wasn’t hoeing beans or baling. I had one yard I cut near a particular creek and many times I’d see my grandpas car parked at the bridge. I knew he was fishing his favorite fish to eat, bullheads! I’d go down when I finished cutting the yard and walk back in about 150yds and there he’d be with his cane pole and bucket, chewing Redman and catching supper. I’ll never forget the sight of him sitting there. That would have been about 68 years ago! He was a good Ol’ boy that loved his bullheads and squirrel brains! LOL

Been eatin' bullheads all my life. These blackwater streams here are full of em.

Lucky ! Love cathing bullheads but there kinda rare around here There's a few bridges/culverts around here where you can catch 100 in a couple hours. 2 or 3 reels on rod holders....can't keep em took off & re-baited fast enough.

Bullhead = Mudcats or yellowbellys where I'm from. Could catch a five gallon full in the swampy creeks. Once you got past the cottonmouths and gators. Id always soak them in a brine or buttermilk, then fry'em.
