I went to our gun club meeting Thursday night and one of the guys brought in some pickled eggs. Made me realize I've never made them so I should give it a try.

Does anyone have a recipe for spicy pickled eggs they're willing to share?

If I'm using eggs from our hens, do I need to let the eggs age a while?

I would use an old gallon pickle jar. It was supposed to be a jar to mix up catfish bait but I found my old jar.

Thanks.

I do them similar to this. You can change up spices to your liking, I add some pickling spice and a cayenne or two. You can also 2x or 3x or whatever the recipe. Back in the day the local pub always had pickled eggs and sausages on hand and I still crave them so I make'em now and again. Good luck!

My granddad used to make them, I had his recipe on a notecard somewhere, but I haven’t seen it in a while

I use Tappel's spicy pickled egg recipe that I found in the cooking forum here on Tman. Sorry I don't know how to post it here. Just go to the cooking forum and find the pickled egg posts and scroll through until you find it. Best I've found.
For hard boiled eggs do them in an insta pot and they peel like a dream no matter how fresh they are.

Thanks. I didn't know there was a cooking forum, either.
Think I'll put a dozen eggs in the fridge to age a few weeks and try one of these recipes.
I appreciate it.

I use a variation of this recipe. I like cider vinegar so use more.

I will also at times add sausage

I like to add broccoli , cauliflower, garlic cloves( whole) with the jalapeno peppers .
Also add sliced beets and onions , with the eggs.
Still have good eats after the eggs are gone.
You can just make a sweet pickle brine ( bread and butter ) and use a lot of mustard for yellow pickled eggs.
It's hot and sweet , some people like it better.
I like them all , same with gherkins.
Just eat less of them .

How spicy are these? Mildly spicy or pretty hot? Going to try them but wanting to know if I need to adjust the spiciness first.

Look like they're spicy , but only one way to find out.
I made a salsa once, tasted it as I added more jalapeno slices and juice.
LOL Never realized that the more I tasted it , the number my taste buds got!
Even the ones I knew that loved spicy, were shocked at the heat!
But it didn't taste or feel spicy to me,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,that night LOL!
