Well my Dad's big farm auction was held on Saturday June 21. There were 400 Online Bidders from 13 states as well as about 100 in person bidders. The day was the hottest so far this year - with temps in the mid 90s with a heat index reading of 102. It was held at the Buffalo County Fairgrounds in Mondovi, WI. All the bidders could sit in the cattle barn where there were several barn fans. Just the shelter kept everyone fairly comfortable. The oldest of the tractors was a McCormick Deering from 1935 and the newest tractor was from 1963. All in all 28 large tractors were sold, as well as six lawn / garden tractors. The market for Old Iron has collapsed based on the prices. Most of the winning bids were about half of what my father had invested. New tires can easily run $1,000 and a new paint job can be $3,000+ in addition to any engine work that needs to be done.. Overall he took the low prices well. He commented that most of the guys who collected them were about his age (86) and a lot of them are no longer living. I think it will be a big relief that he doesn't have to maintain them anymore.

Thats a hit but like you said, Tiies, paint, maintenance, etc has skyrocketed and has to be taken into consideration from buyers. Plus the fact that the real collectors are a dieing breed doesn't help. My father collected Jim Beam bottles and insulators which never had much value except for a few he didnt have LOL.

Thanks for the update - I was wondering about it. Sorry the prices weren't better, but at least he can know that other people are going to enjoy his work
