Have first swarm of bees in one of my swarm traps and need to know how long I should let them settle before I’d like to move them from my home(where we caught them) to our rural homestead 100 mls away. The trap is a wood box w/ 5 old comb frames that can be directly moved to a hive box. Is night time when to seal trap for transport?

I've learned enough thru the years to now know that I don't know enough. KNOWLEDGE IS FREEDOM.

Congratulations. Yes, night is the best time to seal and move the hive.

I caught my first swarm earlier this month. After showering myself in bees twice, while cutting multiple branches, I got them in in a hive, which they very active!y going and coming too.

Best option is bed of your pickup at night. Put them up against cab and strap down if you want to avoid bouncing them around.

Nuc sized gear is horrible at temp regulation. Closing bees up in heat is not necessarily good plan for a long travel. Keep entrances open.

Kinda late for swarms. If you want to give them a try I’d move them tonight or tomorrow night into a 10 frame and feed them light syrup to get more comb drawn. Don’t know your honey flows but I’d definitely feed them when the flows slow down.

just because bees are using your trap does not mean the queen has moved in yet. Wait unill you see then taking pollen in.
