I really got fired up about beaver trapping last year. I borrowed some traps from my friend to get started, but now I want to buy my own. Last year I used MB750s and Belisle 330s. I'm planning on buying Belisle 330s at the NTA Convention in Harrisonburg, Virginia. I know that the TS85s are what most people use, but I'm leaning toward the No BS Beaver Extreme. I use No BS Juniors for coyotes and bobcats now, and after a couple years of use there isn't a single spot of rust on them. The No BS beaver traps are offset and laminated. I'm just a little concerned that because of the offset that a beaver might be able to pull it's foot out if it's a front foot catch. Does anyone have any experience with the NO BS beaver traps and/or experirnce with using offset traps on beaver?

The best foothold beaver trap I've ever used and still do is the CDR7.5 in combination with drowning rods. I lost too many beaver with some of the others. You do need the setters if you buy them.

I believe No B.S. Beaver Extreme is a regular jaw trap and the Wolf is offset.

I've only been trapping beaver for 7 years so others with more experience will have better input. I have used MB750, Bridger #5 CS, Duke #5 LS, Victor #4 LS, Victor #4 jump, and Sleepy Creek #4.5 LS. Of those my favorite all around for catching and ease of setting while in the water would be the Bridger #5 with the Duke #5 a close second

First, most beaver trappers don't use the TS85. I looked at them closely. Did not impress me.

My picks
1) A tie between old production CDR's and #44 B&L longsprings
2) Beaver X-treme's, regular jaw

The first two you will need to find used, the no b s is a very well made heavy dog-less design

I lost some beaver in Bridger #5 LS traps before I switched to CDRs. I have had my CDRs for maybe 20 years. So, they must be the old ones some of you mentioned. Wasn't aware that the newer ones have gone down hill. That's a shame because mine are great.

Hey......listen up ...I caught (2) beaver in one single MB750 at the same time .

Had both of them by the rear toes...on a drowning rig.

To my knowledge...I am the only one to achieve this unbelievable feat.

So...it's only MB 750's here..

I'm not a big beaver trapper but us mb750s and Bridger#5 coil springs. both work 750 are stronger but both have the beaver in them when I check.

I would stay away from any offset and laminated traps for beaver.

Agree with no offset, you’ll miss toe catches and no real reason for lamination on a drowning set, it’ll just slow the jaws down with the added weight/water resistance.. The no bs beavers I have are not offset or laminated. I like them, might need to take a file to the jaws to take the edge off the 90 degree as mine were a bit “sharp” out of the box

I figure they could have easily stopped making any other Beaver traps after Tim S started building the MB-750 myself.

I tried using my Mb750 wolfs double duty for beaver, like everyone else said, stay away from off sets. The neat thing about the 750 is no loose jaw. Nothing wrong with the TS 85, I’m not a big pan guy but they’re fine. CDRs work fine. Never tried NoBS beaver, but if they got sharp edges, that’s no good. I’ll bet they’ll replace them for free if they do. A guy shouldn’t have to file a quality trap like that, their wolf traps are top notch. Anyone can set these with their feet. Setters are handy getting them off the bugger.
I just bought a new Bridger 5DLS that’s in the water as we speak on an ADC job, but I don’t think it’ll see action……I believe the beav be gone…lol

100 % Agree, offset are a toe catcher IMHO.
I have never used the bigger newer type traps, so can't say anything about them , except if you have to carry a special setter , it's not worth it to me.
I didn't have close to road trapping, and many times a couple miles walking to the back ponds.
I used Victor # 4 DLS , and could set them anywhere I was trapping by hand over a knee.
It depends on where you trap, I like the 330's, but they have to be totally under water here.
So they were good in only some places.
A mud pie set could be made anywhere, and that # 4 DLS worked like a charm.
Now days with ATV's and it seems roads are everywhere , it's different.
Only time I used a drowning rod, was when the ice was melted along the edges of a pond.
Make a mud pie where there was open water, run the rod under the ice, with the rod, stable on bank so it wouldn't twist or turn.
The beaver was trapped under the ice.
You can't put in a drown sack or drown weight with the ice in the way.
