Hey folks. where I am at in NS Conibears to be legal must be set in or over water. I live on a shallow creek but sometimes it's higher. depends how much rain we get.

I got a papa otter on a dam last year and lost my mind (first year trapping last year)

Looking around now mama had her babies awhile back and see their prints scampering everywhere, and maybe a mink too? Caught a muskrat here too a little ways away from the otters and the bait was gone so figure theirs more.

For all the tracks on the bank, how do I catch them? it's muddy, it ducks under the bank sometimes but never in water for me to set conibears in the fall. Hard to stake them upright in mud anyways.

Is there a type of set I can do to catch these guys? How do I make it well, any tips?

It's out back of home so I can check it all the time.

Do some research on float sets.

Id they're on the bank, they're in the water, figure out where they are going frim water to land. Find their "slide" or fins where the creek turns sharply. May find a crossover there. Find a pinch point or narrow one down yourself, now is a good time to make crossing logs, trails for crossovers, cubbies, and pinch points for all kinds of animals.

Life sure is tough when you don't learn from the mistakes of others.
