I like to watch them but not buy them. Always told my boys if you want to spend money on something that goes bang just go buy some shells and go hit the shooting range. They have always heeded my advice once they got a little older. 😀 Jim
Money cannot buy you happiness, but it can buy you a trapping license and that's pretty close.

I made a lot of money during high school running down to Missouri in a Volkswagen rabbit, filling up the car and selling them in Omaha. Omaha did not have stand that I remember, you had to go to Ralston. And they all were safe and sane. Bottle rockets did have reports.
M-80s were the best selling. They were illegal long before 1978 thanks to the ATF. A guy would go to prison now if he got pulled over…..

Never Did much for fireworks Other than sparklers and some smaller stuff when my son was small. I got cured of any fascination I had with the bigger fireworks when a high school classmate of mine lost his hand and eye playing around with an unexploded rocket from the city fireworks display he found at the park. The wife loves to see them and usually goes with relatives to see them these days. They are televised on our local TV channel also. When we first owned our house back in the 70's we would watch them from our garage roof. One year I got an idea, aided by several beers to make my own noise with an 870 12 gauge in the back yard by shooting up in the air. This was in a residential neighborhood and no cops were called. Wife wasn't to happy with me when she got home from the park and the shotgun stayed in the gun cabinet on the fourth after that. Don't think I could do that nowadays but might be worth a try if I get to bored this week.
