Have 9 traps set on 600 acres. Cameras show coyotes and bobcats walking by my sets with hardly any interest. I have used different baits and lures with zero success going on six weeks now. Can’t imagine what’s going on. Should I move to new locations or just let them perk? It’s been extremely hot down here in Bama!

For coyotes this time of year I’d stick to mafia sets or urine posts. Livin is far easier now than 6 months from now. Some will respond to baits but not many. And blind trail sets set on sign. No lure, no bait, no urine.

On cats I would stick to setting toilet areas and pinch points that restrict their travel using blind sets.

Trail cameras and fresh snow have broke a lot of trapper’s hearts.

Summertime is tough but it is doable. If you have coyote sign don't move figure out what bait was interest them. This time of year a good coyote gland lure on a stick just above a flat set may do the trick. I have added a touch of gusto also in the summer. If you use Something skunky place it high so they cannot roll on it.I would suggest you start some bait stations and get the coming and then set for them.

Last summer I had a home owner contact me about a chicken thief. I sat 4 dirt hole sets, 2 on either side of fence crossings about 100 yards apart. I put game cameras on both crossings. The first 2 weeks I caught several feral cats, coons, and possums but the coyotes avoided the sets. I changed one set to a T bone with sheeps wool soaked in liquid beaver castor. That seemed to be what got thier attention. I caught 3 in 2 additional weeks. That was July in Eastern Oklahoma. Ants ate all my meat based bait. Might give that a try.
