I dread the DMV it makes anger issues , been better in recent years but yeah in years past it was infuriating I always wondered how more DMV workers didn't end up strangled with the clip on tie or beaten with the clip board , really I think it speaks to the great control of man in such infuriating circumstances.
I was re-upping the tags on one of the cars in the Family Fleet today and I noticed renewal of Drivers license by web , this is an item that was on my to-do list as I have 2 months to have it complete
I was thinking ok well they do mail it but maybe they just re-use the old picture , nope
let the web cam on the pc take it
so Hot dog they are going to let me drive for another 8 years and 2 months 34.80 24 for the license , 10 for some fee and 80 cents for a CC service charge
I would have given them 5 bucks in service charge to not have to take off work and go to the DMV

Our local DMV is fast easy and efficient. But I live in a rural area and drive to a small town about 10 miles away.
GCP, in my state when you re- up your driver's license you need to take an eye test. This is a real deal breaker for some elderly people. Did you take one over the computer? If so how do they know someone isn't doing it for you or helping you?

I honestly can't name a single person who enjoys going to the DMV.
Our's has moved into a very small building. Six chairs in the waiting room, everybody else stands outside, rain, snow, freezing or hot. our local-ish DMV is open Tuesdays and Thursdays 7-5 but you need to be there by 4 if you have much hope of getting it done. about a 30 minute drive. small but generally the line isn't out the door , it is a smaller rural county The next closest is open all week and is about 40-45 minute drive and the line generally isn't that bad the really infuriating one was when I had to go in Madison years go very long lines , you got a letter and number based on what you told the person at the door you needed , if they got it wrong you got to wait around another cycle about a 100 people in a room waiting for their 5 minutes at a counter , several counters running some were like form not right end of line , but occasionally you would get the guy who was like , the form isn't right , check this box , name a 5th time here and ok now it is good.

In Ontario, those over 80 have to take a test every 2 years, this is a vision test and a comprehension test, They ask you to draw a clock face, number it and put hands on it . At ten minutes ,after eleven. . Apparently many can't figure it, might have something to do with, so many digital watches, Older seniors may have to take actual drivers tests. I was in and out in a few minutes. old 243

I was in and out in a few minutes. old 243 the analog clock as much as we are used to it , is one of the cognitive indicators as my wife checks out more and more very day now having moved into in home hospice care about 2 weeks ago, it was one of the earlier things that became very apparent , our living room has a basic 1-12 numbered clock normal hands has been there 20 years , she has read it every day for those years last week she started getting it wrong quite a bit , the next thing was not remembering what day it was even after being told a few times. this is followed by the wrong words for things , moments where you think she might be back , then more to the confusion side again. those movements of a little clarity and speech that makes sense less and less. in most places they will not rent you a car after 80 , my parents have been taking trips as much as they can because they want to see the places the want to see before 80 , they have run into a few couples still in good health while traveling but no rental cars after 80 so they have to hire a driver which makes it cost much more.
