Mj600 got it right the first time

So I did my little test with a Sullivan trap pan gauge. I set the modified MB650 at 3 pounds in the center of the pan. The outside edge tripped at about 2.25 pounds, the center at 3 pounds and the back edge almost bottomed out the gauge at what would be 4.5 pounds. I checked my only MJ600 the same way. It has a Mikes type trigger. Center of the pan broke at 2.5 pounds, the front edge at 2 pounds and the back of the pan just like the modified 650, it almost bottomed out the gauge so 4.5 pounds.

Testing an unmodified 650, I set it at 3 pounds center of the pan. It broke at 2 pounds on the front and I’m guessing 9-10 pounds. It may have been more.

The new pan improves the MB 650 in my estimation. I don’t think with the MJ 600 or the MB 650 you’ll ever eliminate the difference in what it takes to fire trap between the front and back of the pan. However the dead spot common to the MB 650/750 can be improved with Monte’s pan.

I never worried about that dead spot when I used them. I just set them and caught a lot of animals with them.

Yup, Canebrake, that is absolutely correct,we all have and do yet today BUT there are always some of us who want to know WHY something is the way it is because it doesn't sit quite right for us the way it is so we question ourselves can we make it better to our mind with some head & handiwork. I personally applaud the open mindeness of the "thinkers" & "tweekers" within the trapping community!

Did that pan work on a MB 750?
