I use interchangeable now but when I used Delta/ Snuffer's I used a file and stihl. I don't remember if I used the Stihl on the snuffer but I had a two blade delta I did, I didn't have any trouble keeping them sharp.

I keep a small, fine tooth file stuck in my quiver. Takes just a couple minutes touch up an edge.

Vice, fine tooth file, diamond file, leather strop. Very gently. Takes time.

Ive have gone to a grinding wheel disc specifically made for sharpening broadheads. The edges are much more consistent and its much quicker too. After years of sharpening chisels and plane blades with a similar technique i always questioned why I used a file. To each their own.
Bench grinder wheels

Bench grinder wheels

paper wheels can work really well , people need to know you turn the grinder backwards and let it run away from you
but it is one of the best ways to get hollow ground

Im obviously not hollowing grinding the heads, but the paper wheel with compound is far and away the best way to actually achieve a razor like edge with spending hundreds of man hours hand grinding on stones. IMO

if you run them across , because the wheel is convex you get a slightly concave edge to the blade , aka hollow ground

opposed to a convex grind that you get with a belt , where the belt flexes and gives the blade a very slight convex grind

everything comes down to 3 options , flat convex concave
you get flat with a flat stone

convex you get with a belt not on a contact wheel

and concave/ hollow ground that you get from crossing a convex wheel or contact wheel with a belt.

Zwickeys sharpen up well with a fine file. I bought a wood base with two files mounted to it on angle, slick as can be.

I use a Ken Onion model belt sharpener. I use it to touch up Magnus Buzzcuts and Zwickey broadheads.

Ya. I get all that. Ive been hollow grinding for years. I have two bench grinders and a grizzly belt for all the things. I sharpen all my chisels and plane blades that way. But the concavity on the edge of a broadhead thats only 3/16” at best from and 8” wheel is pretty minimal. If you want to call it hollow ground, fine

I use vpa 3 blades. Put them on a fine flat stone, push, and rotate. When you get done strop them on some denim and make sure they are hair popping sharp. I’ve done two blades the same way you do a knife on the flat stone

I always used a fine stone and or an old super fine straight razor stone.

Wolfie,

Google using a 4" diameter piece of smooth plastic pipe with different grades of sandpaper. That would work for 3 or 4 blade. I do my 2 blade style with a DMT diamond stone kit and a jig.

Or check out Three Rivers Archery for jigs to hold 2 blade heads. Some have a pivoting head to keep even contact with the abrasive being used.

I also have the 2 file setup that Bear Tracker mentioned.

Or look up Ranch Fairy on the web. He has a good demo on sharpening heads.
