I don’t recommend it no A/C in the fur shed yet so I worked in the big steel building I still have work to finish in the fur shed before I move junk in there. It started out fine I kept the doors closed to get ahead of the flies it turned out the flies don’t like the heat much either. Ran 2 box fans to try to keep cool. It’s a slow process for me I collect the fat for sun rendered skunk oil and that’s time consuming the heat helped the fleshing process lots of oil around the beam.

A jumbo skunk has a gristle on its rump kind of like a smaller beaver it’s doable but noticeable tougher then an average skunk I has a couple of them. It gets past noon now it’s hot the skinning, trimming the fat skulls removed fleshed a couple it was time to cool off so I took a break still no flies but not a lot around this year. I’m not saying I wanted to cool down I needed to it was hot and I hate heat.

Went back out and finished up moved the stretched pelts into the fur shed it’s sealed up tighter then the steel building is and nothing is in there to attract bugs in there. Put fans on both side of them to dry and keep any bugs at bay if they showed up. Went out today put a bug bomb in the shed to blow around still no signs of any bugs yet.

So 6 that were in the freezer will be ready to go soon I will need to locate a buyer I can trust now I’m sure the quick buck guys will be out there.

Nice Law Dog, the fans are the way to go. Good luck on your finding a buyer would love to know what you get. I saved a couple early spring skunks from road kill. Will just sell them next year and that June one I posted laugh
I bet it sells, but for how much will be the real question. There's always one speculater at my local auction

Skunks have many markets and uses Pepes that are not suited for fur can go for crafts or taxidermy as long as it looks good I doubt most end consumers would know or care about prime or know hat it really is about.

Looking into a buyer in MN I’ll see how they turn out in this heat and go from there.

I hear you have a market in WI.

Is there a big difference in a sept skunk versus a Nov skunk? I thought about picking up some road kills before I start the late Nov line.

I've picked up and sold end of Sept skunks before. Here the leather will already look good and the fur, although a little before prime, sells for the same money This is in Western New York
