What?

Stop over cooking your meat! It isn’t gamey, it’s over cooked!

Wolf, turkey mama's form up summer flocks of mama and biddies. Mostly single mama and brood early on then merging with other broods and single hens that lost theirs. By fall and through winter the flock can be pretty large. The jakes will split off late winter spring often running in buddy groups. Meanwhile the older toms will run in smaller bachelor groups until spring.

I was honestly surprised to see any poults this year as wet as it's been. Wet years are rough on poult production.

My understanding is Turkeys have 1 brood per year, if a nest gets destroyed they try again, the late broods are from multiple nesting attempts. Same as ducks, but brood size keeps dropping with ducks, don’t know if that is true about turkeys

Turkeys will continue to re-clutch each time their nest is raided. I’ve seen chicks as late as September. That’s when I started to hammer the coons, skunks and possums. Without the predators they are doing much better.

I've seen the hen and her young right into Oct when I was deer hunting.
Today I was scouting my ADC chuck trapping area. And I saw a hen with 3 poults, and they were about the size of quail. After they got tired of running, they flew up in a tree. Those little buggers sure could fly.
