I'm looking for someone to restore a knife that was found in the woods. I'm trying to upload pictures, but having problems doing it. Anyone know someone that does this kind of work? I will be able to send picture to an E mail if interested.
Thanks Doug

I hope you find someone to rescue that knife. If it were me I would do it myself. Trace the the grip style and remove old skin and make yourslf some new grips with whatever wood you would want.
That would be a great project great find by the way.

really just need to replace the scales of the knife. not a hard process and theres just tons of knife makers out there that could do it for you.

I did an image search and I think I might of found who makes the knife so you may want to contact them. https://viking-knife.shop/

The back of the blade looks like it was beat with a hammer. Some file work would clean that up.

Looks like a pattern to me, but not sure

I'm not familiar with someone who could restore the knife for you, but that is a great find. Really cool looking knife!

That's a very common decorative pattern filed into the back of the blade.

Wish the shipping wouldn't be so expensive or I'd do it for free in nice hardwood like ebony or rosewood or hedge.

I'm sure you will find someone.

Nice skinner.

Just sand it. The more you sand the better it turns out. I then buff them on a high-speed wheel with compound. The handle doesn't look bad to me, sand it then add a coat or 3 of stain.

Oiling the wood would near instantly make the knife look much better.

For starters, I would use some elbow grease with Scotchbrite on the blade. Sandpaper and tongue oil on the wood. Might not need to over think it?

That detail piece in the grip is no big deal to put in a new build but like others said go at it yourself.

Did you make any effort to find who lost it? Looks like it was a custom knife. Any kind of name on it?

To me, I think it looks like a cheaper knife, and not worth the money and effort to have it restored. I'd soak the whole thing down with WD40 or similar, use an old tooth brush to get it cleaned up, sharpen and use it. click here I didn't search much but this popped up as an example, $20. That said if you can find markings on the knife that indicate its something special, disregard what I've said.

Did you look at the link Sniper posted? I believe he found the maker as the knives on that site have the same little emblem in the handle, and the same marks on the top of the blade on some of them.

I don't see that knife in the link. There is one with a similar mosaic pin but those pins are very common available to many knife makers... https://www.makermaterialsupply.com...1KmEpGkHXe3RnqX2cJKWBX5f6y-5-W_RUnMq1FGM

Not being on the site doesnt necesarrily mean it wasnt built by them. I've bought several knives from companies around here that you cant find on the site anymore. And they werent cheap either. Not really a fan of damascus knives myself, probably because they seem to the the popular choice of scam accounts on facebook
