Just sent a letter to my Sister, 73 cents, I remember when it was 13 cents. I think they're mismanaged horribly and are in need of alignment. With that said, it sure is something special to get a letter in the mail. What a bargain. The rate by Pony Express was $5. But it was quicker and more likely to get there, even with Indians and bad weather, lol.

I'd pay 5 bucks to have a correspondence of how my Sister is doing, how her watermelons are coming along, priceless. That's not the point. The USPO rates keep going up and the service keeps going down. They're forcing out the long timers and creating skeleton crews, soon it will be self check outs like at the walmart.

I’m sure old folks on a fixed incomes are not as happy about $78 rolls of stamps it’s just one more bite out of their annual income they have no control over. Suddenly folks are happy to pay more for sketchy service that makes me laugh. SMH

USPS in my personall opinion, are cheap, but waste of time. Can't understand mail letter or bill within the state, and on average 7/10 days on a good week to get there. Waiting on a package from Texas, USPS, said. 3 days, well it's up to 9 days, still waiting. Tracking is a joke, shows them accepting parcel, then nothing after that. Calling there hotline, is about like calling, Moscow, and asking for President Putin. Increasing prices isn't going to help the USPS. Being a vet, was difficult for several years, getting our meds, on a timely basic. VA, mail them, waiting time on average 2 wks., to be delivered. Calling our state senators, help out a bunch Sen. Hawley, got after the USPS, and the government now ships, Fed Ex. Waiting time for myself about 5 days

Old folks on fixed income have bigger things to worry about than the price of stamps. Everything thing around us has gotten expensive. Why should the USPS be any different.
Their business model sucks and it has no choice as it's mandated by law.
If it was a for.profit business they would close 75 percent of offices and only deliver mail 2 or 3 days a week.

I had a pretty good example. My father is 76 and his money will outlive him. He still works 800 to 1000 hours a year I feel more for the 30 year old trying to raise a family

A member here mailed 6 boxes of traps from Colorado on 6/27 to be delivered on 7/2. The first box arrived today. One is in Olathe, one in Chicago and the other 3 are still in Denver.

Who has more potential for future income the guy that’s 70 or 30 both have expenses you’re definitely missing the point if you apply the equation to a 30 year old.

No I'm not missing the point. I understand full well the power of inflation creep and the impact it has on people with fixed income. I think a majority of retirees people underestimate how much it will cost to retire and how much even a minimal inflation rate compounded over several years will impact their future.
I do agree that it's crazy how much the priority boxes have went up in price. If I recall when the first one came out they were 5 bucks. What are they now like $17.

That flat rate was a good deal at one time but not today unless you're shipping lead or horse shoes.
