Merlin Ladd from Hinkley Mn passed away yesterday. I just got word of his passing today.

Many Mn trappers knew Merlin. I haven’t seen Merlin for many years. But spent many conventions at his camp fire. A lot of trapping and fur handling knowledge went with Merlin.

Sad to hear but well said as he was a great guy and him and his family did a lot for trapping and the MTA over the years. RIP Merlin. I remember meeting him at my first district 4 meeting when I was a teenager…..he was about the only guy in the room I was almost as tall as! lol. Happy trapping! ScottW

Sad, truly sad. He is one of the people from the good old days, back when the MTA was still something worth being involved in. And he knew a lot of cool stuff and easily shared that knowledge.

Merlin was a heck of a guy and used to be a fixture at the MTA conventions back when they were well attended. He will be missed.

Merlin borrowed me three 330 traps in '86' told me how to set them in the Creek below my house.

Merlin Spent many fun hours with me in his old fur shed...Gave me his best beaver lure recipe...including the "secret" ingredient after 30 years being my friend.

What a Sad Sad day! Trap On Old Friend, You are Loved!!
