My "bird-planted" Black Cap patch in the backyard has come back big time this year! This is from the second pie this year baked by Wonderful Wife. It's looking like there's a few more pies in my future, too.

Black raspberry pie is a treat that is hard to come by.

I could eat half that pie right now Moosetrot! A Saskatoon berry pie is in the forecast for me very soon!

The term "black cap" is usually in reference to black raspberries so supposing that's what he meant.

Call it whatever you will , I'd call it darn good looking with vanilla ice cream ! Enjoy each one of those pies !

Blackberries, Black Raspberries, Black Caps....whatever you want to call them were planted by the birds a few years ago along our back fence. Every couple years we get a bumper crop of them and this year they went nuts. They are excellent, especially with a big wad of ice cream!

Pie looks great moosetrot. I got my six grandkids in town and it’s a fun to get them picking our berries but there is never enough for a pie after they eat everything they pick.lol
