What is everyone’s go to for mapping/tracking sets and information. I’ve heard a lot of people like OnX, some use Avenza etc. Is the OnX worth the price? Other options or methods?
To God be the glory.

I've never bothered, would probably be the thing to do. But I've trapped the same ground now for over 20 years. Plus always have trespassers that help them selves
Let me sugar coat this

I have to ask what is your purpose for needing a mapping/tracking program? Locating property owners & addresses is one important thing though. Do you need a tracking app to show you where your traps are? Do you have so many traps set that you can’t remember where they are and how many are there? I have two mapping apps and one is ONX the other is FETCH GIS. The only use I have from either is to show me State Land boundaries and private ownership with names & addresses. Other than that, what use do I have to use either?? I never ran more than a couple dozen or so coyote traps and about the same number of mink sets and never had a problem remembering where the exact set locations were but that is me and not you. Maybe you and others need to see where your sets are so they don’t get forgotten, missed, or bypassed. So, me needing a mapping app in order to trap? Certainly not, just makes it easier to locate property owners!
That all being said, I will tell you what was of the utmost importance for me was the need to kept/keep darn precise records of my coyote catches and bait/lure combos that they were caught with and I used an app called Notability for years to record those pertinent facts. It’s one thing if you can’t remember where your traps are but it’s a whole another ballgame if you can’t quantity your catch ratios as they pertain to specific bait & lure usage per set!

If a trapper has trouble remembering where is sets are, just locate your trapping area in Google Maps and take a screen shot. Go into Photos, edit the screen shot photo to show set locations and upload the edited photo into some app such as Notability. Once in the app just add in each set’s data such as bait & lure as the set pertains to the photo. An example-

I use OnX and like it as it can help me locate sets after a snowstorm. Don't need it very often but when I do it saves me a lot of time digging.

OnX is worth it. Can use it to mark your traps, scout for new trapping, hunting and fishing spots. I just buy the cheap yearly one, like 40 bucks I think.

I tried the iGoTrapping and didn’t like it. Started using IHunt over OnX because at the time I couldn’t get specific maps for Manitoba. I love the layer overlay with satellite/property maps both visible at the same time. If you’re trying to do something with the app, there’s probably a way to do it and a quick google search tells you how. They’re pretty powerful apps with piles of capability.

I use onx exclusively. There are lots of youtubers that run promotions on it, and i typically can get it for the year for somewhere around $30.
When I run my big line, 120-150 sets i pin everyone, and write what the set is, bait and lure, urine. This only take maybe a minute and thats stretching it to mark these locations. Lots of abriviations for me.
Example, drop pin to the exact location. Then I would name it, DH, GD, Bobp
Dirt hole, Grave Digger as bait, Bobcat pee Easy peasy!! When I go to pull my line, I look at each property and blknow how many sets i have on that particular property and before leaving make sure i didn't miss any.
