Yep same here I read the sign if I think there is a need for more than one I will set it.If not I move on down the road a bit.

I have plenty of traps, so gang setting is what I like to do. I mostly trap farm land and a farm lane intersection will get
1 with lure
1 with bait
1 with pee
1 mick jagger
At least 4 blind sets

I don't have the coyote population many of you have, so when Mr Coyote comes through I need all the advantages I can get
But I do have a good population of reds and grays

If I'm out in the fields I start with 3, as catches are made I'll add fresh sets nearby with what made the catch in that location

I always set more than 1. Farmland here with lots of coon and possum to plug up sets.

Yup, only when I knew I had a family that hadn’t broke-up, other than those infrequent occurrences, I set according to the number of coyotes I had available. One track, one set, two tracks(pair) two sets. I always figured if you had to set more traps than the number of coyotes available at any particular location you were lacking in confidence in your scents or set, maybe both!

Generally two or three at each location.

If a location is good enough is good for one trap it's good for two or more, especially if I have put in the effort to find and get to that location. More traps in the ground on sign, the greater the chance of Ol' Wiley stepping in one. That said, I have no shortage of traps available. If I only had a half dozen traps, I might reconsider how I approach trapping.

I look at this question like I would welding xray welds. If I was not sure if my one weld would pass and have anxiety about it, if I would weld two welds maybe they’ll xray the “good” one, 50-50 chance right that one would be good!!! LOL Do it right the one time for one coyote and down the road!

With our goofy, unpredictable weather I gang set like scott and wet dog. Got the traps and with our high possum population more traps out means more chances at catching coyotes.

Ill spread them out. If on a good location it may only 100 yds to the next set but this seems to make the highest catch rate for me. Some of our coyotes will get spooky if u have a bunch of sets in one spot.
Use to put 3 or 4 at one location but most situations the results didn't justify it. Now I have seen situations where 15 sets within a 100 yds of each was justified but most people aren't trapping that kind of location.

Seems like I have one of the sets that never catches anything when I set a double. I have rarely set triples.

I prefer to set one and go to cover more ground faster. Those double catches do make for a cool pic, though.

On some past predator jobs, I have set doubles at every location (logging road interesections & food plot entrances, etc.) Catch totals haven’t ever justified that.

I set a lot of doubles, but rarely does it ever pay off in the form of doubles. I try to get smarter and just set one and move now
