Im a two set per location guy too. So many coon, skunks, possums, you name it around here. I’ve caught a few coyote doubles but usually it’s a coyote only or a coyote and something else. One set always a dirthole with bait, other a post set with urine. To mix it up sometimes the post set gets a smear of caster or a smear of mink gland lure. Catches are about 50/50 in either set type. I’m always glad I did t just set make the one set type only. Doubles are always a great thing to pull up to find. Jim
Money cannot buy you happiness, but it can buy you a trapping license and that's pretty close.

I have noticed that even when setting multiple traps at a location, one often gets all the attention. Last year I had a pair of traps set. Caught 3 coyotes in one trap before I finally had one hit the other. What you reckon would have happened if I had just had the one that caught the single coyote out? I would I have caught them all or thought I was in a dud spot? … when they’re working remakes like that your one trap would’ve got them all

…. Makes for some big catch circles … I believe this was # 9 out of a single trap set ![[Linked Image]](https://trapperman.com/forum/attachments/usergals/2025/07/full-105-263007-img_0455.jpeg)

Savell, I need to pick your brain on remakes; I generally fail miserably at them on reconnecting.
The way I've been doing remakes on yotes; which has not been too productive is to take the same traps and bed it right back in the same bed. I then gather all the fresh turds in the catch circle and put them in position. I check the bladders of all coyotes I catch as sometimes on rare occasion their is some urine in there. Whatever is left, I drip it on the fresh droppings. Being doing it this way cause it was how I was taught. I haven't had much success with the method though.
I'm mostly a single trap setter too, unless I see an area where several of them are gathering and rallying. Often, I'll set up to 3 in these locations.

Thanks for the information Savell, sure appreciate it. I am not all that successful at reconnecting. It is why I set multiples at good location cause I generally don't reconnect, I know it is something I am doing wrong. Is Tom Miranda still producing those lures? I'll get some from him for sure as I cut my teeth as a youngun on his, Mr. Bob's, and Jerrys FFG coyote VHS. Also Coyote Fever. I grew up using Helfrich stuff, but hard to find now. In the past years mostly use Dobbins and JC Conner stuff. Usually kill enough coyotes in summer out of the tractor for urine, but I don't run many traps at all.
When you set the remake, do you just leave everything as is....as far as all the turds and blood if any? I usually just .22 short them in the heart for less blood, but didn't know if I ought to be choking them out or nose knocking them instead. I nose knocked em as a kid, but I usually have my daughter or a grandkid with me now.

Thanks! I don't think it does over here either, but since I stink at connecting on remakes, then it made me wonder.

Great points Boone. Around here, yotes are paring up and breeding in February. Usually pupping in middle of April which is good timing for the fawn drops in late May and June. Given my circumstances, I'm only able to trap around the two weeks of Christmas and New Year's.
Had only enough time to pound out 12 sets this past year (two of which were cat sets), but they were on a farm with lots of brushland with lots of coyotes and many roads. Easy trapping. Caught 5 coyotes in those ten sets, but none of them were in remakes, and I remade every set that caught.

I gang set. Of course some of that is because I'm primarily a wolf trapper and they are even more of a pack animal than coyotes, plus they have huge territories and it may be a lot longer before they come back around than coyotes. But also, regardless of which canine I am targeting, some days, or some critters, simply like one set, or one attractant more than another. So I like to give them a variety, to up my odds.
As far as remakes go, I usually remake like you describe Chancey, although at times I will add lure. Majority of the time I don't add lure, but when I do I use a different lure than was originally at the set. My thinking on this is the original lure is very likely scattered all over the catch circle, so the new lure in a specific location will direct the coyotes nose, and therefore his feet, where I want them to be. Seems like remakes vary in their effectiveness for me. Some years they are golden, absolutely most surefire set on my line, other years they won't catch a sick possum. I usually always remake, the trap is already there and dirty, so it isn't like I'm going to pick it up and move it elsewhere on the line, anyways. So unless I am pulling the line I'm going to remake it. But some years I don't catch anything in them, other years they are the best sets on the line.
