I am a cheapskate and I save old jackets, shirts, pants, you name it and the become my official trapping clothes. Layers are how I roll for my cold December and January coyote, cat, coon, and mink mixed bag line.

I found this under amour orange fleece pullover one year in summer on clearance rack for $10 and it’s been worn many years on my trapline. I generally have a few layers on under it.

Sometimes I throw something flannel and quilted lined over the orange fleece too. Layering is good way to keep warm but not too warm.

But this year I thought I would do my best to look more like Savell. What do you think, sir?

Money cannot buy you happiness, but it can buy you a trapping license and that's pretty close.

I like my insulated hooded sweater and LaCrosse rubber boots. i wore the first sweater for ten-plus years for trapping, working, pretty much everywhere.

When it finally wore out I found out they didn't make them anymore. I searched long and hard and finally found one on Ebay, new in the box. I don't know what I'll do if this one wears out before I do.

Well Lefty, you've gone and done it now.

Savell's probably never seen jeans under chaps before. He's gonna be confused.
