Does that include court costs? Theyre more than the ticket here.

Went to a DOA motorcycle wreck. Found the kids helmet (empty) about 50 feet away. It looked like it was properly strapped on but didn't help much in a high speed crash. Just slipped off of his head while still strapped closed.

Went to a suicide by truck call. Girl walked in front of a semi on the highway in the dark. She was wearing these small lace up boots with a lot of eyelets. Her boots were found right near where the semi hit her , she was found 75 ft away.

Vehicles today are engineering marvels. They are designed to take on frontal impacts, and the passenger compartment is greatly reinforced compared to vehicles made 40-50 years ago. Multiple airbags too. But airbags aren’t designed to replace belt / shoulder harnesses. If you’re counting on your airbag to save you, think again. An unrestrained motorist is no better off with just an airbag. A steering column airbag inflates at roughly 200 mph. You’re traveling forward at whatever speed your vehicle was traveling. There’s a good chance the impact against the airbag by an unrestrained motorist will break your neck.

Only if you're foolish, most simple tickets can be paid online. Georgia has the highway robbery gig down pat. One wonders why the ticket writers don't just have point of sale card reader and just handle it on the side of the road. But the state probably doesn't trust them either.

The law to wear them has zero to do with the safety of the people wearing them. It's there so insurance companies have to pay less in medical bills. It's always about the money.

Rather pay the politicians than the doctors, I guess.

Back in the 60s, I came upon an accident. A friend was hit broadside by a speeding car. He was ejected and flew across a traffic island. He was disfigured. In the hospital he had tubes and rods coming out of his body, arms, and legs. Sixty years later, I can still see him in that highway median.

I buckle up.

Everybody that walks away from an accident was wearing their seatbelts or so they say, otherwise they get a ticket. I think it is $110 here.

That might not be a good thing if your organs are more profitable than your recovery. At least that's what a doctor told me once.

I think it should be personal preference, don’t need the government micro managing us. 30 years ago had a nephew go through a windshield then pull back through. Avoidable if wearing seatbelt. He lived with us awhile and after looking at his face I started wearing a belt and never stopped. I still have several vehicles with just a lap belt but don’t wear it. Just this past winter had another nephew roll his truck on an icy road going to work and he was ejected, landing in a plowed field at night. Luckily someone came along before he froze to death, but neck and head injuries plus loss of hearing in one ear. Some claim he would have been killed if he stayed in the vehicle, who knows.

I think wearing seatbelts should be optional. I also think it's foolish not to wear one. I wear one.

I think we should get rid of all warning labels.

Sure would lower the population and the lower end of the gene pool would be cleaned out quicker.

I wonder if people should be required to wear helmets while driving? It never ends with the safety nazis.
